With the words: “I am Pepper, a humanoid robot”, the newest member of the Hirschmann family introduced himself. After our company received an award from the Hans-Huber-Stiftung for apprentice training, this award was also intended to be invested in apprentice training. A survey was carried out to evaluate the needs and long-term added value of the acquisition and the decision was made in favour of “Pepper”. At 120 cm, the lady weighs only 28 kilograms and is equipped with a small screen. A demo version is currently running on the robotic companion. The aim is to integrate Pepper into apprentice training and to “feed” her with information so that she can serve as a communicative supporter in the future. It speaks every language and will sometimes carry out safety briefings, provide more detailed information about apprenticeships or provide detailed information about products. “Pepper opens up many opportunities for us,” enthuses Reinhard Prasch, head of apprentice training. During the presentation, she was gazed at with great amazement by the apprentices. The robot lady is programmed in-house by our IT apprentice with the support of the trainer.
